……our children
remain confused on who is teaching the authentic faith.
This is another day of profound sadness in the Archdiocese
of Boston. We trust that the acceptance of Cardinal Law’s
resignation will move everyone concerned toward healing and remedy.
Any organization is a sum total of the
actions, activities, beliefs and statements of its members. The Boston
Priests' Forum and Voice of the Faithful have been teaching that moral and
sexual theology can be left to the discernment of one's individual
conscience. This is not only disordered, it is the precise tool that Paul
Shanley used to excuse away his actions.
Under the present circumstances, our children remain confused on who is teaching the authentic faith. It is impossible for them to process whether the beliefs of Fr. Walter Cuenin and Voice of the Faithful members or Pope John Paul II, which are completely diametric, represent Roman Catholicism.
We have been in invisible schism for
many years and must examine each and every individual who is placed in a
position of teaching the Roman Catholic Faith and correct their errors formally
and publicly for the sake of our children.
This responsibility does not solely
rely upon the Apostolic Administrator, Bishop Richard Lennon, but all of
us. We pray that our priests rise and defend Truth.
